This specialist KS1 course, designed to support teachers in Y1 & Y2, will focus on how to develop an effective environment for learning that meets the needs of all children as they move through KS1.
Join us for this programme of three 90 minute webinars to deepen knowledge and gain inspiration and ideas to improve practice and provision. It is recommended you attend all 3 sessions for maximum impact.
Focusing on key aspects of pedagogy, the sessions explore:
The Rationale for Change
Session 1: 23rd October 2024
We start by considering the key principles of child development and recognise the importance of understanding how children learn in KS1, beginning to explore how to plan provision that builds on children’s previous experiences.
How to Design an Effective Classroom Environment
Session 2: 20th March 2025
We move on to revisit the key principles of effective continuous provision providing guidance on how best to plan the space available and prioritise the areas of continuous provision that will impact most on children’s progress in KS1.
Linking Provision to the Curriculum
Session 3: 17th June 2025
Finally we look closely at the link between continuous provision and the demands of the KS1 curriculum, ensuring that provision provides rich opportunities for exploring key concepts, as well as acquiring and practicing skills with sufficient challenge.
Benefits:
-
Reflect on the unique nature of how young children learn and the key changes that occur around the age of 7
-
Deepen your knowledge of continuous provision and explore the connection with the KS1 curriculum
- Consider how to plan your learning environment and explore approaches to strengthen your practice
