SEND leaders/teachers

Maths subject leaders

KS 1 and KS 2 class teachers

Teaching assistants

  Course objectives:

To explore specific SEND published materials for mathematics (including some materials on dyscalculia).

To consider various support approaches and strategies when working with children with difficulties in mathematics.

To examine some key resources (manipulatives) and see how they might support SEND children

To support and develop problem solving

  Course information:

During this course there will be an opportunity to look at some key teacher books/resources which support the teaching and learning for this special group of children. Delegates will also see key maths resources in action and take away instant ideas to use back in school.  The resource list includes: bead-strings, bead-bars, number-lines, Numicon, two colour counters, place value resources, ten frames, individual base ten sets and much more. Post attendance, each delegate will be sent a folder of key documents and a copy of the presentation as a pdf file.
