Course objectives:
To look at some key mathematical resources and explore the teaching and learning models for multiplication (and division).
To look at a range of mental methods for multiplication.
To explore and discuss the existing MTC documentation.
To notice and correct common errors and misconceptions in multiplication.
To experience games and activities that support learning times tables facts.
Brief description of the course content:
We will begin with looking at the recent documentation for the MTC and the NCETM progression documents for multiplication and division. Although the test requires memorisation of the times tables, we will also look at how to teach multiplication through a variety of resources, games and activities. Post attendance, each delegate will be sent an access code to all the course materials and much more!
