Overview

This 3 session course will use John and Sonia Murray's new book, The Behaviour Toolbag, as its basis.

The everyday stuff that makes a difference.

Learn how to manage challenging behaviour issues that cause concern and to maintain positive behaviours through tried-and-tested strategies and interventions. The Behaviour Toolbag outlines influences on behaviour – school-based, social and emotional – and shows how to identify problem behaviours that can actually be changed. Includes clear guidance on adapting strategies to individual needs and settings, while ensuring staff manage their own emotional needs.

Topics include:

  • Influences of behaviour

  • What behaviour to focus on

  • 3 W’s – What, when and why

  • Reframing the behaviour

  • Positive practical behaviour management strategies and interventions

  • Special educational needs

  • Looking after the practitioner

Colleagues are encouraged to attend all 3 sessions in the course:

Autumn term cohort: 26th Sept & 24th Oct & 28th Nov

Spring term cohort: 30th January & 27th Feb & 27th March

Summer term cohort: 29th April & 21st May & 26th June
