The course will look at setting targets in four areas
- Work behaviour
- Verbal behaviour
- Non-verbal behaviour
- Social and emotional behaviour
The course will look at how to set appropriate targets by
- Defining the behaviour of concern
- The use of assessment and observation
- Monitoring progress
There will also be a practical element on using templates to set targets
Targets should be SMART
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant,Time-bound
However when it comes to setting behaviour targets for a target to be smart three key elements need to be developed or the target becomes an expectation.
To create a smart target, it is necessary to combine three elements:
- What is the desired behaviour?
- How is the desired behaviour to be achieved?
- When will it have been achieved?
