Overview

The Showbie platform provides an amazing set of tools for teachers to share and collect digital content across a range of apps on iPads, Chromebooks and laptops.

Both the paid and free versions include a great range of tools for setting and completing work, and for giving both written and verbal feedback quickly and easily - potentially saving teachers a huge amount of time whilst simultaneously improving the quality of feedback given to pupils!

Delivering remote learning to pupils presents a range of challenges, including deciding whether new content is best delivered through live (synchronous) lessons or via pre-recorded content (asynchronous).

Evidence presented by the Education Endowment Foundation makes it clear that 'teaching quality is more important than how online lessons are delivered' and that whilst live lessons can be invaluable in some cases, 'an over-reliance on live remote learning could negatively impact the most disadvantaged in our society'. In short, if all remote learning is optimised for live delivery, what is the negative impact on those who are unable to access that content in real time?
