We are delighted to offer Thinking Moves A-Z training for primary and secondary teachers, as well as for teaching assistants who have involvement with teaching and learning. This new online course comprises 3 twilight Zoom sessions of 1.5 hours each, spread over a 2 week period - allowing participants to try out activities in lessons between the sessions and share practice in the training itself.

£100 per person for the 3 session programme for all schools

Our thinking ability is what makes us distinctively human. Yet we have no generally accepted approach to teaching thinking – and no common vocabulary to describe different ways of thinking. This, when you think about it, is extraordinary. Imagine trying to teach or learn maths if we did not have commonly accepted terms such as add, subtract, multiply and divide!

Thinking Moves A – Z provides a vocabulary for thinking. The moves themselves are not all new – we all use them in our learning and our life every day. But now we have a powerful way of talking about how we think, and that gives us a means to work on improving the effectiveness of our thinking.

About the Programme Leader

Jeremy is a teacher of Geography, - a former Head of Department and Assistant Headteacher in state secondary schools before becoming the Hertfordshire County Adviser for Gifted and Talented students, working with schools and running training courses and conferences. He then worked for an educational social mobility charity, helping able disadvantaged students to secure places at leading universities, moving on to consultancy work with High Performance Learning, an educational social enterprise helping schools nationally and internationally to become world class.

Jeremy began as a P4C trainer in his Gifted and Talented advisory role and subsequently has trained thousands of staff on open courses and with whole staff groups in schools, as well as running workshops with students of all ages. He is a very experienced Level 1 P4C trainer, running SAPERE P4C courses for many years, and has also worked with schools on longer term projects eg with the EEF (Educational Endowment Fund).

Jeremy now teaches part-time and combines this with consultancy and training work with Sapere, Thinking Matters and Dialogue Works, helping teachers to develop thinking, questioning and metacognition with their children.

A very accomplished trainer, Jeremy engages and communicates with delegates on his courses with the same enthusiasm and inspiration he brings to the classroom.
