Overview

At a time when every school is thinking carefully about how best to re-engage pupils into school life and learning, The Recovery Curriculum becomes a key consideration for all staff, especially how to facilitate appropriate dialogue around recent events..

As children begin returning to school, all staff should be aware of a consistent approach to how they will create a safe space to share thoughts and stories, to re-connect with their peers and staff and to re-engage in meaningful learning .

Why P4C? Philosophy for Children (P4C) is an incredible way to bringing pupils, teachers and teaching assistants together to discuss things that matter and to explore the more sensitive aspects linked to loss, anxiety, uncertainty and fear...to name but a few. P4C as so many benefits, not just for the pupils, but also the staff in helping them to really appreciate and understand the concerns being experienced by members of the school community.

“Fear is a question. What are you afraid of and why? Our fears are a treasure house of self-knowledge if we explore them.” – Marilyn French
