Led by Paul Carney and Susan Coles the day promises to be a must-attend event for all with an interest in and passion for the arts in primary schools:
12.30pm - Welcome from Iain Simper, Director, Educere Consultancy Ltd
12.40 - 1.20: Practical workshop led by Paul Carney: What is knowledge-rich art and how is it different to what we do now? What should children learn, know and do, and by when? What are OfSTED looking for now?
1.20 - 1.30: Mindfulness drawing exercise, Science and Art drawing exercise, and the selfie drawing! All of which can be used the classroom the very next day.

Paul is a nationally recognised art consultant having delivered specialist art INSET CPD in schools across the UK and for the UK’s leading training providers. He is a board member for the NSEAD and runs his highly successful art website; paulcarneyarts.com which provides high quality teaching resources and advice to teachers around the world.
He has twenty years teaching experience at Primary, Secondary and post-16 levels of education, is an Advanced Skills Teacher, ex-Subject Leader and was a member of the DfE Expert Advisory Group for Art and Design. In addition to this he was a member of the NSEAD Curriculum Writing Group that wrote the art curriculum competencies, more formally called the: 'Framework for Progression, Planning for Learning, Assessment, Recording and Reporting 2014'.
Susan, an artist/teacher, is a leading expert on art craft design education in the UK and beyond, and a passionate advocate for the subject. A past president of NSEAD, she now represents Europe on the World Council for the International Society for Education through Art, and is also secretary to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Art Education. Susan is also a trustee of AccessArt and chair of governors in a primary school.
