Overview

It is so easy to see moments we face as pass or fail, whether that is in leadership or in life. When we see these moments as binary pass/fail we make them high stakes and can even start to see ourselves as failures when we get too many perceived ‘fail' moments. But what if there was a different way of thinking.

Colin is a former headteacher and so he understands the pressure that school leaders are under to constantly get it right. The reality is that is unsustainable. Colin is now a leadership coach and trainer and has developed ‘Everyday Alchemy’ to help people see that just like the ancient alchemists who turned metal into gold, we can turn everyday moments into moments of value when we use the 'Everyday Alchemy' principles.

Colin has written a book on this, Everyday Alchemy, and in this session, Colin gives away the ideas for free. Colin will explain how we can Pause, Reflect and Respond and use the 4W’s to make the best of things in the moment. Afterwards, you can then ReVISIT, ReVIEW, ReFRAME and ReBUILD to turn what might first seem like a trashy moment into treasure. This is proven practice that has come out of his work with his coaching clients.

By the end of this session, you will know a) simple steps to regain your ‘locus of control’ in the moment, b) how to review for improvement afterwards and c) how to build a resilience that will not just help you to survive but thrive from challenging moments in life and leadership. Imagine feeling empowered for learning and growth in life and leadership!

This course is designed for anyone who wants to have a more healthy mindset and manage their mental wellbeing. It’s particularly helpful for school leaders.
