What do I say if…? What if they ask me that?!
In the summer term, many schools plan to teach aspects of puberty and reproduction, but few, if any, teachers have received initial teacher training or high-quality CPD in how to teach some of the more sensitive aspects of relationships and sex education.
This course will help colleagues:
- Clarify the relationship between relationships education and educational attainment
- Create a safe and appropriate learning environment,
- Reflect on the importance of developing children's attributes, skills and knowledge (probably in that order!)
- Take home some examples of participatory styles of learning and teaching
- Develop ways to respond to challenging questions
This interactive course will give colleagues greater confidence to tackle some of these potentially sensitive issues effectively
