Bullying and protected characteristics

26.9.23: An overview of protected characteristics and common bullying themes that schools are faced with.

10.10.23: Case studies will be explored related to The Equality Act and examples of successful strategies used to combat bullying. Allyship as a key strategy will be considered.

6.11.23: Staff interactions including unconscious bias will be considered as the potential for minimisation is explored. Strategies for increasing staff awareness (including self-awareness) will be outlined and discussed.

About the Programme Leader

Dr Jo Trevenna leads Potential Education which specialises in the leadership of EDI in schools. Building understanding of the Equality Act (2010) and ensuring compliance with the Public Sector Equality Duty, Potential Education offers training and support to increase awareness and build confidence in this crucial and enriching aspect of school life. An effective EDI strategy not only helps schools reap the rewards of a diverse workforce but it can also improve pupil outcomes, target pastoral support and rapidly improve stakeholder engagement.
