Overview

How Leadership Big Ideas Can Revolutionise Your Thinking as a School Leader

3.10..23: An overview of the course drawing attention to key leadership theories and exploring their application to schools

17.10.23: From Plato and Aristotle to Machiavelli and Shakespeare, this lively session offers insight from centuries ago that still is relevant today. Once the theories have been understood, we then apply these to leadership contexts within schools.

21.11.23: From debunking ‘Great Man’ and the dangers of eugenics (and thereby challenging imposter syndrome) through to transformational and transactional leadership, this second session charts the rise in popular leadership theory and its usefulness in schools.

12.12.23: This final session explores how more recent leadership theory has moved away from the idea of leadership being centred on one person (ie: the Headteacher/Principal) or a small group of leaders (SLT anyone?) Distributed, Servant, and Shared Leadership models are explored and applied to school contexts.

Repeated 23.1.24, 16.2.24, 23.4.24, 11.6.24

2024-25:

Cohort 1: 08.11.24, 15.11.24, 18.11.24, 27.11.24

Cohort 2: 03.12.24. 11.12.24, 05.02.25, 25.02.25

Cohort 3: 06.05.25, 15.05.25, 20.05.25, 01.07.25
