A six day course in which we explore the six principles and how they apply to your setting in order to plan how to nurture change in your school or setting.

By the end of the programme you will have a secure understanding of nurture principles; their pedagogy, rationale, concept and how they can help support the development of the whole child.

  • Collaborating with your community using the nurture principles as a framework for change

  • Solutions based coaching for your setting

  • Convert the critics that nurture is not an add on but a foundation for driving change/improvement

As part of this longitudinal study programme, a free one hour consultancy session is offered to each of the participating schools/settings to support their development. The half day courses are plugins to support your transition once the areas of need have been identified.

These plugin courses may also be useful for the nurture leads and staff within your school /setting to support wider understanding of nurturing practices.

About The Course

During the six sessions , there will be time allocated, once every half term to

● focus on areas of pedagogy related to each principle

● reflect on how it applies the context of your setting

● solutions based approach to champion nurturing change linked to school improvement

Nurturing change is a new organisation supporting children & young people to be the best they can be. The nurturing change approach has its foundation in the six principles of nurture, and a deep belief in the power of adults to support change in the lives of children and young people.

Jeni Barnacle - Director

Jeni Barnacle is a qualified primary teacher (Art) with postgraduate qualifications in Early Years and Nurture. She trained in Essex, while bringing up her children, moving to Norfolk as a NQT and teaching for the next twenty years in a range of schools. She enjoyed sharing her creative curriculum practices through Lead Literacy, numeracy and behaviour roles before becoming a headteacher

Jenni Moore - Director

Jenni Moore is a qualified Secondary Science Teacher, who has worked in Norfolk for her entire teaching career, most recently as Deputy Director of Science specialising in behaviour management. Trained in Nurture Principles and STEAM teaching Jenni has many years of experience of supporting pupils in finding their inspiration within subjects.Jenni also has a tandem career as a sports therapist and outdoors instructor having branched out to support pupils and staff in outdoor teaching and learning.This wealth of experience has been applied to a consultancy role with nurtureuk where her areas of specialism are wellbeing and curriculum.

Claire Hargrave - Director

Claire Hargrave is a qualified primary Teacher and mother of three, who has worked in London, Birmingham, Staffordshire and Suffolk, most recently as Head Teacher of two Early Years/KS1 Alternative Provisions. Trained in Nurture Principles and Solution Focussed Brief Therapy, Claire has many years of experience of supporting pupils and their adults in educational settings to identify unmet needs and find ways forward. Claire currently also offers associate consultant services to NurtureUK in the east of England.

Claire also has a tandem career in IT and website design, having written one of the very first school websites in the UK, and spoken at UK conferences about upcoming technologies and their benefits in supporting teaching and learning.
