Café Plus® is designed to be run by SENDCos for parents/carers with the timings, session length and frequency to be decided by each school . It builds on a school’s current parental engagement practice (e.g. Reading Cafes, Cafes for All®) with the timings and frequency of the Café Plus sessions to be decided by each school. Café Plus® uses a proactive group approach, benefitting both parents/families and school staff. The training explores how sessions can take place both face to face and remotely so that all families are able to engage with the support and become enabled to use this. The half day training is followed by a one hour online discussion a term later to share progress and ideas.
During the online Zoom session, the host will share their screen, video and audio. Attendees are able to interact with one another and the trainer. Additional materials shared with delegates post session .
This half day online training enables delegates to:

Understand how to help all parents/families of a child with SEND support and develop learning, confidence and achievement

Be confident to set up and run Café Plus sessions ( face to face or virtual) , building on the school’s current Café practice

Plan for introduction of Café Plus
- Access suggested guidance and information for sessions on topics such as anxiety, sleep, attachment, dyslexia, ADHD/ASD and parenting strategies.
